This document outlines the design consideration

Timesheets

There are two basic timesheet design concepts

  • Plant - where the focus is an employee's timesheet, therefore the data entry is from the point of view of one employee at a time.
  • Site - where the focus is the site, and the timesheets then represent all of the daily activity at one site. This includes employees, sub-contractors, and plant (large, small & hire).

Dropdowns - as in all applications are there to assist in selecting options.

However, in the case of site supervisors, in order to more correctly represent what they are responsible for and what their dropdown should show, there is a setup step that each user should exercise.

  • That is to select the job(s), employee(s) and equipment that they are responsible for (in terms of entering timesheets), and to have these items as the elements of any dropdown.

This then limits the number of items on any dropdown from the hundreds to the tens & twenties, which is more representative of the resources under their control.

The selection may be altered at any stage, removing or adding any resource from the dropdown list is immediate, and only means that the resource does not show up in the dropdown.
